Overview

Olfactory receptor family 4 subfamily F member 6 (OR4F6) is a member of the olfactory receptor gene family in humans, encoding a G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) that is primarily responsible for detecting odorant molecules in the nasal epithelium and mediating the perception of smell. Like other olfactory receptors, OR4F6 possesses a characteristic seven-transmembrane domain structure and transduces chemical signals from external odorant molecules via activation of G protein-mediated signaling pathways. The olfactory receptor gene family is one of the largest in the human genome, but OR4F6 is not generally considered a therapeutic target and has no clearly established roles in human disease or pharmacological intervention.
