Olfactory receptor family 4 subfamily G member 1 pseudogene (OR4G1P) is a member of the large olfactory receptor gene family, which typically encode G protein-coupled receptors that initiate the neuronal response to odors in the nose[1]. However, as a pseudogene, OR4G1P harbors inactivating (loss-of-function) mutations that prevent it from coding for a functional protein; consequently, it does not participate in odorant detection or signal transduction.
