Olfactory receptor family 4 subfamily G member 11 pseudogene (OR4G11P) is a non-functional, putative member of the olfactory receptor gene superfamily. Olfactory receptors are normally G protein-coupled receptors that mediate the detection of odors, but OR4G11P is a pseudogene, meaning it contains sequence disruptions (such as premature stop codons) that prevent the production of a functional receptor protein. As a result, it does not participate in odorant sensing, signaling, or any characterized biological function. Pseudogenes like OR4G11P are remnants of genes that have lost coding potential during evolution, and unless specifically shown otherwise, are regarded as genomically "silent" with no direct therapeutic or disease relevance[3][4].
