Overview

Olfactory receptor family 4 subfamily K member 14 (OR4K14) is a human protein encoded by the OR4K14 gene. It belongs to the large family of olfactory receptors, which are G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) characterized by a 7-transmembrane domain structure. OR4K14 interacts with odorant molecules in the nose, initiating G protein-mediated signaling and ultimately neuronal responses that underlie the sense of smell. OR4K14, like other olfactory receptors, is mainly expressed in the olfactory epithelium but may have additional roles in other tissues. This receptor does not have documented drug ligands or disease roles except as part of research into olfaction and chemosensory systems.
