Overview

Olfactory receptor family 4 subfamily K member 7 pseudogene (OR4K7P) is a human gene classified as a pseudogene within the olfactory receptor family, specifically the family 4, subfamily K subgroup. Although it is related by sequence to genes coding for G protein-coupled olfactory receptors, OR4K7P itself is non-functional due to accumulated mutations that prevent translation into a functional protein. Pseudogenes such as OR4K7P neither produce functional receptor proteins nor participate in signal transduction or disease processes, and thus are not considered drug targets or associated with any known biological or pathological roles. Alternative names include OR4K10P and other gene aliases; however, no drugs, biomarkers, or disease or safety implications are currently known for this locus.
