Olfactory receptor family 5 subfamily AK member 4 pseudogene (OR5AK4P) is a human gene classified as a pseudogene within the olfactory receptor gene family. This gene does not encode a functional olfactory receptor protein due to disabling mutations, such as frameshifts or premature stop codons, and thus is not involved in odorant detection or signal transduction like canonical G protein-coupled receptor family members. It has several alternative names, including PJCG3 and various olfactory-related designations. Pseudogenes in the olfactory receptor family are common in humans, arising from gene duplication events and subsequent mutational inactivation, and have no established function, disease association, or pharmacological relevance.
