Olfactory receptor family 5 subfamily BM member 1 pseudogene (OR5BM1P) is a non-functional DNA sequence, classified as a pseudogene, derived from the family of human olfactory receptor genes. Like other olfactory receptors, its functional counterparts interact with odorant molecules in the nose to initiate neuronal responses responsible for odor perception. Olfactory receptor genes are the largest family of G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) in the human genome and share a 7-transmembrane domain architecture. However, OR5BM1P is a non-coding pseudogene and does not produce a functional protein, nor is it involved in olfaction or implicated in disease. It does not act as a therapeutic target, biomarker, or safety concern in clinical contexts
