Olfactory receptor family 5 subfamily BN member 2 pseudogene (OR5BN2P) is a human pseudogene from the olfactory receptor family 5, subfamily BN. It is classified as a pseudogene because it does not code for a functional receptor protein[1][3][7][10]. Pseudogenes like OR5BN2P are DNA sequences similar to functional olfactory receptor genes but contain mutations that prevent them from being expressed as functional proteins.
