Olfactory receptor family 5 subfamily C member 1 (OR5C1) is a member of the largest G protein-coupled receptor family in the human genome. Expressed primarily in the olfactory epithelium, OR5C1 initiates sensory perception of smell by binding odorant molecules and activating intracellular G proteins, leading to neuronal signaling.
