Olfactory receptor family 5 subfamily H member 15 (OR5H15) is a member of the large family of olfactory receptors, which are G protein-coupled receptors characterized by a seven-transmembrane domain structure[4][9]. These receptors are expressed predominantly in the olfactory epithelium of the nose, where they recognize and bind various odorant molecules, initiating a G protein-mediated signal transduction cascade that ultimately triggers the perception of smell[3][4]. The olfactory receptor gene family is the largest in the human genome, with each receptor thought to interact with a range of odorants to create the diversity of human olfactory perception[8][9]. There is no current evidence of OR5H15 functioning as a therapeutic target, or being associated with specific diseases, biomarkers, or therapeutic drugs[8][9]. The main biological role is chemosensory function in the olfactory system.
