Olfactory receptor family 5 subfamily H member 2 (OR5H2) is a member of the G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) superfamily, responsible for detecting odorant molecules in the nasal epithelium and initiating neuronal signals that result in odor perception[4][5][6][7]. Like other olfactory receptors, OR5H2 consists of a 7-transmembrane domain structure and is encoded by a single coding-exon gene[4][5][6][7]. While its primary role is in sensory signaling, olfactory receptors as a family have also been implicated in physiological processes beyond olfaction, though specific extranasal or disease-related roles for OR5H2 have not been established[3][4]. There are currently no known drugs, biomarkers, or safety concerns linked specifically to OR5H2.
