Olfactory receptor family 5 subfamily M member 10 (OR5M10) is a seven-transmembrane G protein-coupled receptor that belongs to the largest gene family in the human genome. It is responsible for recognizing specific odorant molecules in the nose and initiating a G protein-mediated signal transduction pathway, leading to neuronal activation and the perception of smell. OR5M10 is encoded by the OR5M10 gene, which arises from single coding-exon genes typical of olfactory receptors. Members of the olfactory receptor family share structural similarities with other GPCRs and may have additional, still poorly understood roles in nonolfactory tissues[1][3][7][8].
