Olfactory receptor family 5 subfamily M member 11 (OR5M11) is a human protein encoded by the OR5M11 gene, classified as a G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) belonging to the large family of olfactory receptors. These receptors are expressed primarily in the olfactory epithelium of the nose, where they interact with odorant molecules to initiate neuronal signaling, resulting in the perception of smell[1][5][7]. Like other olfactory receptors, OR5M11 has a characteristic 7-transmembrane domain structure and mediates signal transduction via G proteins. The gene is functional (not a pseudogene) and shares significant sequence identity with related olfactory receptors in humans and other species[2]. No specific role as a therapeutic target, nor any involvement as a biomarker or drug target, is established for OR5M11[1][5]. The biological function is primarily limited to sensory transduction in the context of smell.
