Olfactory receptor family 5 subfamily T member 3 (OR5T3) is a member of the olfactory receptor gene family, the largest gene family in the human genome[1][2][7]. OR5T3 encodes a seven-transmembrane G protein-coupled receptor expressed in the olfactory epithelium, where it functions to detect odorant molecules and initiate a neuronal response culminating in the perception of smell[1][2]. Like other olfactory receptors, OR5T3 acts through G protein-mediated transduction pathways characteristic of the GPCR superfamily[1][4]. Although primarily involved in olfaction, there is emerging evidence that some olfactory receptors may have roles in other tissues and may be relevant to disease when expressed ectopically[5]. No drugs or clinical interventions directly target OR5T3, and it is not established as a disease-associated or therapeutic target[2][5][7].
