Olfactory receptor family 51 subfamily F member 3 pseudogene (OR51F3P) is a human pseudogene corresponding to an olfactory receptor gene that has lost its function due to mutations such as nonsense or frameshift mutations. Olfactory receptors are classically involved in odorant recognition and signal transduction as G protein-coupled receptors in the nose, but as a pseudogene, OR51F3P does not encode a functional protein and is not expected to have any impact on smell perception or to serve as a drug target. There is no evidence that OR51F3P is involved in human disease, drug interactions, or biomarker utility. It is categorized molecularly as part of the olfactory receptor gene family and as a pseudogene.
