Olfactory receptor family 51 subfamily H member 1 (OR51H1) is classified in humans as a pseudogene, meaning it does not yield a functional protein[4]. This locus is part of the large family of olfactory receptors, which are G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) involved in odorant recognition and signal transduction via G protein-mediated mechanisms. Olfactory receptors, including those in family 51, typically feature a seven-transmembrane domain structure and play a fundamental role in detecting odorants within the olfactory system. However, OR51H1 itself does not produce a functional odorant receptor in humans and has no demonstrated direct role in disease, drug interaction, or as a therapeutic target[4].
