Olfactory receptor family 51 subfamily I member 1 (OR51I1) is a protein encoded by the OR51I1 gene in humans. It belongs to the olfactory receptor family, which comprises the largest group of G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) in the genome[1][5][6][7]. OR51I1 is mainly expressed in the olfactory epithelium of the nose, where it binds odorant molecules, triggering a G protein-mediated signal transduction cascade that ultimately leads to smell perception[1][6][7]. Like other olfactory receptors, OR51I1 possesses a seven-transmembrane domain architecture similar to neurotransmitter and hormone receptors[1][6][7]. OR51I1 is not currently known as a therapeutic target or the direct subject of drug interaction studies; its primary function remains in sensory transduction[1][5][6][7]. While olfactory receptors are increasingly recognized for potential non-olfactory roles and disease relevance, no disease associations or safety concerns are currently attributed to OR51I1.
