Olfactory receptor family 51 subfamily T member 1 (OR51T1) is a human G protein-coupled receptor in the olfactory epithelium that mediates odorant detection. Like other olfactory receptors, it possesses a seven-transmembrane domain structure and participates in odor recognition and signal transduction through G protein activation. OR51T1, encoded by the OR51T1 gene, is part of the largest gene family in the genome and was recently deorphanized in functional studies using cell-based assays, confirming its responsiveness to specific odorant structures. While the main identified role is olfaction, some olfactory receptors also have physiological functions in other tissues, but specific extranasal or disease-related roles for OR51T1 have not been established[1][4][5][6][7].
