Olfactory receptor family 52 subfamily N member 5 (OR52N5) is a human protein-coding gene encoding an olfactory receptor, part of the largest gene family in the human genome. OR52N5 is a G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) located in the olfactory epithelium, where it binds specific odorant molecules to initiate neuronal responses leading to the perception of smell. These receptors share a 7-transmembrane domain structure typical of GPCRs and are involved in the first step of olfactory signal transduction via G protein-mediated pathways. There is limited evidence linking OR52N5 directly to major disease phenotypes or therapeutic targeting, and its main recognized function is in sensory perception.
