Overview

Olfactory receptor family 6 subfamily C member 68 (OR6C68) is a member of the large olfactory receptor (OR) family in humans, functioning as a G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR)[3][2]. OR6C68 is predicted to possess a seven-transmembrane domain typical of GPCRs and is primarily responsible for the detection of odorant molecules in the nasal epithelium, triggering neuronal responses that underlie the sense of smell[3][1]. The OR6C68 gene is protein-coding and located on chromosome 12[4]. While the olfactory receptor family is the largest in the human genome, individual olfactory receptors, including OR6C68, currently have no direct links to drug interactions or therapeutic applications, and their functional roles outside olfaction remain a subject of study[1][3].
