Olfactory receptor family 6 subfamily C member 71 pseudogene (OR6C71P) is a human gene classified as a pseudogene, meaning it is a non-functional segment of DNA that resembles a protein-coding gene but has lost its protein-coding ability or is otherwise no longer expressed as a functional protein. OR6C71P belongs to the large olfactory receptor gene family, which encodes G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) responsible for detecting odorant molecules in the nose and initiating neuronal responses that produce the perception of smell in functional family members.
