Overview

Olfactory receptor family 6 subfamily L member 1 pseudogene (OR6L1P) is a human pseudogene related to the olfactory receptor gene family[1][3][4]. As a pseudogene, OR6L1P is a non-functional remnant of a protein-coding olfactory receptor gene and does not encode an active olfactory receptor protein in humans[1][3][4]. Olfactory receptors are members of the G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) superfamily and typically function in odorant detection and signal transduction in the nose; however, as a pseudogene, OR6L1P no longer participates in these biological processes due to sequence mutations or disruptions that prevent its expression as a functional protein[1][3][4]. There are no known associated drugs, biomarkers, or disease roles for OR6L1P, and it is not considered a therapeutic target[1][3][4]. Olfactory receptor pseudogenes like OR6L1P are abundant in the human genome and reflect the dynamic evolution of this gene family; they generally have no direct impact on human physiology or disease[2][5].
