Overview

Olfactory receptor family 6 subfamily T member 1 (OR6T1) is a human G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) that belongs to the large family of olfactory receptors responsible for detecting odorant molecules in the nose and initiating neuronal signaling that leads to the perception of smell[1][5][6][7]. Like other olfactory receptors, it displays a characteristic 7-transmembrane domain structure and mediates the recognition and G protein-mediated transduction of odorant signals[1][5][6][7]. Olfactory receptors typically display a broad ligand specificity, permitting the detection of a wide array of odorants; they initiate signal transduction cascades involving activation of adenylate cyclase and modulation of cyclic AMP levels upon odorant binding[2][3][6][7]. There are no current data linking OR6T1 to disease, drug interactions, or use as a therapeutic biomarker or target beyond sensory function.
