OR7A3P (Olfactory receptor family 7 subfamily A member 3 pseudogene) is a human pseudogene classified within the olfactory receptor gene family. Unlike functional olfactory receptor genes, which encode G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) responsible for odorant detection and signal transduction in olfactory neurons, this gene is a non-functional genomic segment. It does not produce a protein and has no direct biological role nor implication in human disease or pharmacology. Its existence reflects the extensive and often redundant nature of the olfactory receptor gene superfamily, including many pseudogenes and variants that do not contribute to sensory perception[4][5][7][10].
