Olfactory receptor family 7 subfamily E member 15 pseudogene (OR7E15P)

Target
OR7E15P
Molecular classification
Pseudogene, Olfactory receptor pseudogene
01

Overview

OR7E15P (Olfactory receptor family 7 subfamily E member 15 pseudogene) is a pseudogene in humans. It is related to the large olfactory receptor gene family, whose functional members are G protein-coupled receptors involved in odorant signal recognition and transduction. As a pseudogene, OR7E15P contains genetic sequence features typical of olfactory receptors but does not produce a functional receptor protein and does not participate in olfaction or any other recognized biological process. Like many olfactory receptor pseudogenes, it represents a relic of genomic evolution and is not implicated in any disease or pharmacological pathways
