Overview

Olfactory receptor family 7 subfamily E member 155 pseudogene (OR7E155P) is a human gene annotated as a pseudogene. It is homologous to olfactory receptor genes, which encode proteins in the G protein-coupled receptor superfamily that are responsible for the detection of odorant molecules. In contrast to functional olfactory receptor genes, OR7E155P does not produce a functional protein and is not involved in olfactory signaling or other biological processes in humans[4][5][7]. Pseudogenes often result from mutations or genomic rearrangements that render them unable to encode complete, biologically active proteins and are not considered drug targets. While some pseudogenes have regulatory roles in specific contexts, there is no evidence that OR7E155P plays such a role[4][7].

Mechanism of action

Not applicable, as no drugs interact with this pseudogene and it does not produce a functional receptor

03

Biological functions

None in humans; pseudogenes are generally non-functional and do not actively contribute to biological pathwaysIn general, functional olfactory receptors are involved in odorant detection and signal transduction, but this does not apply to this pseudogene
04

Disease associations

None establishedPseudogenes typically do not have direct roles in disease unless shown to have regulatory or indirect functional impact
05

Safety considerations

None relevant, as the entity is not therapeutically targeted
06

Interacting drugs

None known or predicted
07

Biomarkers

None established for patient selection or monitoring
