Olfactory receptor family 7 subfamily E member 155 pseudogene (OR7E155P) is a human gene annotated as a pseudogene. It is homologous to olfactory receptor genes, which encode proteins in the G protein-coupled receptor superfamily that are responsible for the detection of odorant molecules. In contrast to functional olfactory receptor genes, OR7E155P does not produce a functional protein and is not involved in olfactory signaling or other biological processes in humans[4][5][7]. Pseudogenes often result from mutations or genomic rearrangements that render them unable to encode complete, biologically active proteins and are not considered drug targets. While some pseudogenes have regulatory roles in specific contexts, there is no evidence that OR7E155P plays such a role[4][7].
