Olfactory receptor family 7 subfamily E member 21 pseudogene (OR7E21P) is a human genomic locus that belongs to the large family of olfactory receptor genes but is classified as a pseudogene, meaning it does not encode a functional protein. Olfactory receptors are typically G protein-coupled receptors involved in the detection of odorant molecules, but pseudogenes in this family, like OR7E21P, have accumulated mutations or other changes that render them nonfunctional as protein-coding genes. As such, OR7E21P does not participate in odor detection, is not a therapeutic target, and has no known biological, pharmacological, or disease relevance in its own right.
