Olfactory receptor family 7 subfamily E member 59 pseudogene (OR7E59P) is an unprocessed pseudogene in humans, belonging to the large multigene family of olfactory receptors. While functional olfactory receptors are G protein-coupled receptors responsible for recognizing odorant molecules and initiating neuronal responses for the sense of smell, pseudogenes like OR7E59P do not encode a functional protein due to mutations or disruptions in their sequence. OR7E59P’s close homologs (functional members of its family/subfamily) may be involved in odor detection, but OR7E59P itself has no documented biological function, disease relevance, or drug interaction.
