Olfactory receptor family 7 subfamily E member 62 pseudogene (OR7E62P) represents a nonfunctional, pseudogenized member of the olfactory receptor gene family in humans[1][5]. Olfactory receptors are typically G protein-coupled receptors responsible for detecting odorants and initiating neuronal signals for the perception of smell[1][3]. However, OR7E62P contains errors or mutations rendering it nonfunctional—such as nonsense or frameshift mutations—and therefore does not produce a functional receptor protein. As with many olfactory receptor pseudogenes, it does not participate in canonical biological signaling or disease but remains as a genomic remnant of a formerly functional olfactory receptor gene[1][2][5]. No biomarker, drug interaction, or direct disease role is supported by current knowledge.
