Olfactory receptor family 7 subfamily E member 7 pseudogene (OR7E7P) is classified as a human pseudogene that belongs to the olfactory receptor gene family. While the olfactory receptor gene family consists of G protein-coupled receptors involved in odorant recognition, OR7E7P is a non-functional genomic sequence that has lost the ability to encode a protein due to mutations or loss of coding potential. These sequences arise from gene duplication and subsequent mutations such as frame-shifts or nonsense codons that prevent translation of a functional protein. There is no evidence linking OR7E7P to any therapeutic targeting contexts, drug interactions, or clinical biomarker applications. It is not considered a receptor, enzyme, or other protein drug target and serves primarily as a genetic artifact of the large and rapidly evolving olfactory receptor gene family[3][4][5][7].
