Overview

Olfactory receptor family 7 subfamily G member 3 (OR7G3) is a member of the human olfactory receptor family, which encodes proteins that interact with odorant molecules in the nasal epithelium to initiate neuronal responses leading to the perception of smell[1][2][3][8]. OR7G3, like other olfactory receptors, belongs to the G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) family and displays the characteristic seven-transmembrane domain structure[1][2][3][4][5]. These receptors recognize and transduce odorant signals via G protein-mediated pathways[1][2][3][4][5]. The olfactory receptor gene family is the largest in the human genome; the nomenclature of these genes is specific to each organism[1][2][5][8]. There is no evidence linking OR7G3 directly to therapeutic drug targeting, known ligand drugs, or diseases outside its role in olfaction[1][2][8].
