Olfactory receptor family 9 subfamily I member 1 (OR9I1) is a seven-transmembrane G protein-coupled receptor expressed in human nasal epithelium. OR9I1 is responsible for the recognition of odorant molecules, initiating the neuronal response and perception of smell through activation of downstream signaling pathways. These receptors constitute the largest gene family in the human genome and share the canonical GPCR structure. OR9I1 operates via single coding-exon genes and participates in the olfactory signaling pathway.
