Overview

Oligodendrocyte myelin glycoprotein (OMgp) is a glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI)-anchored protein expressed by both neurons and oligodendrocytes in the central nervous system (CNS). OMgp inhibits neurite outgrowth and regulates cell proliferation, primarily through interaction with Nogo receptor 1 (NgR1). It may also be important for formation and maintenance of CNS myelin sheaths.
