Target intelligence / Profile preview
Oligodendrocyte transcription factor 1 (**OLIG1**) is a DNA-binding transcription factor expressed primarily in the central nervous system. It plays a key role in the formation and maturation of oligodendrocytes, cooperating with OLIG2 to establish regions critical for neural development such as the pMN domain of the embryonic neural tube. OLIG1 is involved in processes such as axon development, neuron fate commitment, and regulation of transcription. Mutations or dysregulation of OLIG1 are associated with certain gliomas and may impact CNS function[3][4][5][8].
