Opioid Receptor Kappa-Type (KOR)

Target
KOR
Molecular classification
G protein-coupled receptor, GPCR, Receptor
01

Overview

The kappa opioid receptor (KOR) is a G protein-coupled receptor that primarily binds dynorphins. It mediates various physiological processes including analgesia (without respiratory depression), diuresis, and dysphoria. Due to its role in pain modulation and reward pathways, it is a target for novel analgesics and treatments for addiction and mood disorders.
