The glycolysis pathway in oral bacteria is a central metabolic process responsible for the breakdown of sugars to generate energy and metabolic intermediates. It follows the Embden-Meyerhof-Parnas (EMP) route and is critical for the production of lactic acid, which contributes to tooth enamel demineralization and dental caries.
