Oral debriding

01

Overview

Oral debriding is a dental procedure—also called dental debridement or full mouth debridement—used to remove heavy accumulations of plaque and tartar (calculus) from the teeth and gums[2][3][4][5][6][7][9]. It is typically indicated for patients with extensive buildup obstructing a dentist’s ability to perform a thorough oral examination and diagnosis, often after years of missed dental care[1][3][4][5][6][7]. The process uses ultrasonic scalers and other manual tools to remove deposits both above (supragingival) and below (subgingival) the gumline[2][3][4][5]. Debridement is a preparatory procedure, commonly followed by additional cleaning, scaling, root planing, or restorative dental treatments[7]. It does not refer to a specific molecule, protein, receptor, or therapeutic target, and thus cannot be classified in molecular or disease terms.
