Oral mucosa hydration is a physiological state determined by the dynamic balance of fluid absorption and clearance in the oral cavity[1][2][3]. Adequate hydration is maintained primarily through constant secretion of saliva and regulated absorption of water and electrolytes through the oral mucosal tissue.
