An organic structure-directing agent (OSDA) is a synthetic organic molecule, typically a quaternary ammonium cation or a complex amine, used in the hydrothermal synthesis of zeolites and other microporous materials (Davis & Lobo, 1992; Moliner et al., 2017). These agents act as templates or space-fillers around which inorganic frameworks, such as aluminosilicates, crystallize to form specific pore geometries and topologies (Zones & Santilli, 1999). OSDAs are fundamental to materials science and industrial catalysis, where they enable the creation of highly specific molecular sieves used in petrochemical refining and environmental remediation. However, an OSDA is not a biological molecule, nor does it function as a therapeutic target such as a receptor, enzyme, or transporter in human physiology. Because it lacks any biological role or pharmacological relevance, it is considered an incorrect entry for a therapeutic target database.
