Overview

OSGEPL1 antisense RNA 1 (OSGEPL1-AS1) is a long non-coding antisense transcript from the OSGEPL1 gene locus. Antisense RNAs generally function to regulate gene expression through a variety of mechanisms, including modulation of their corresponding sense mRNAs or interference with transcription, splicing, or translation[5]. While the OSGEPL1 protein product itself has been implicated as an oncogenic driver in cancer, particularly liver cancer and high-grade ovarian cancer[4], the specific biological significance of OSGEPL1-AS1 remains uncharacterized in published literature. As with other long non-coding antisense RNAs, OSGEPL1-AS1 may exert regulatory effects on the OSGEPL1 gene, but there is currently no evidence that it is a direct therapeutic target or is associated with disease as a biomarker, nor are drugs known to interact with it[2][5].
