Overview

Osteogenesis (also called ossification) is the physiological process by which new bone tissue is formed. This occurs during embryonic development, growth after birth, fracture healing, and throughout life as part of normal bone remodeling. The term "osteogenesis" can also be used in pathological contexts (e.g., heterotopic ossification).
