OSTN antisense RNA 1 (OSTN-AS1) is a human long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) transcribed from the antisense strand of the OSTN gene. It does not encode a protein but regulates gene expression, primarily through its function as a ceRNA (competing endogenous RNA). OSTN-AS1 has been identified as strongly associated with immune regulation, as its expression correlates with key immune genes involved in T-cell and B-cell receptor signaling, immune checkpoint molecules (e.g., PDCD1, CTLA-4), and immune cell infiltration, particularly in the context of cancer. Expression of OSTN-AS1 is reported to be lower in most tumor samples relative to normal tissue and may act as a prognostic biomarker for immune function and disease outcome, particularly in triple-negative breast cancer. Its potential utility lies in prognosis and immunological profiling rather than as a direct therapeutic target[4][5][7].
