Overview

The OVA peptide/MHC complex is a recombinant or model antigenic entity in which a peptide fragment derived from ovalbumin is presented by a major histocompatibility complex molecule. The **ovalbumin (OVA) peptide**, commonly residues 257–264 (SIINFEKL) for class I H-2Kb or 323–339 for class II I-A(d), is loaded into the peptide-binding groove of the respective MHC molecule. This complex is a prototypical tool for probing specific immune responses, especially the mechanisms by which T cell receptors (TCRs) recognize peptide–MHC complexes and initiate adaptive immunity.
