Overview

The Ovalbumin peptide 323-339-specific T cell receptor (OVA323-339 TCR) is a specialized immune receptor that recognizes a specific 17-amino acid epitope (ISQAVHAAHAEINEAGR) derived from chicken egg ovalbumin (PubMed: 2463343). This receptor is primarily expressed on CD4+ T helper cells and functions by binding to the peptide when it is presented by Major Histocompatibility Complex (MHC) class II molecules, such as I-Ad or I-Ab (PubMed: 7528774). In immunological research, this TCR is a cornerstone of the DO11.10 and OT-II transgenic mouse models, which are used to study T cell development, activation, and differentiation (PubMed: 8114762). These models are instrumental in investigating the mechanisms of allergic diseases like asthma, as well as the induction of peripheral tolerance and the dynamics of the immune synapse (PubMed: 10887106). While not a direct target for human drugs, the OVA323-339 TCR serves as a critical prototype for developing TCR-based therapies and small-molecule inhibitors that modulate T cell-mediated inflammation and autoimmunity (PubMed: 15322178).
