Ovulation process

Ovulation is a critical physiological process in the female reproductive cycle, during which a mature egg (oocyte) is released from the ovary. This event typically occurs around day 14 of a standard 28-day menstrual cycle and is essential for natural conception. The process involves follicular development, hormonal regulation (FSH, LH, Estrogen, Progesterone), oocyte release and capture by the fallopian tubes, and post-ovulation events such as corpus luteum formation. Disorders affecting this process, like anovulatory cycles and PCOS, are common causes of infertility. Ovulation can be targeted by drugs to stimulate the release of an egg for infertility treatment.
