Oxidative stress-induced neuronal death refers to the process by which neurons die as a result of an imbalance between the production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and the cell's antioxidant defenses. This imbalance leads to cellular damage and is a key mechanism underlying neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, and motor neuron diseases. Neuronal death from oxidative stress can occur via apoptosis, necrosis, or aberrant cell cycle reentry.
