"Oxygenated perfusion" refers to procedures or technologies for supplying oxygen-enriched blood or solution to tissues or organs, typically outside the body (ex vivo), as is done during cardiopulmonary bypass or organ transplantation with devices like heart-lung machines or extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO). In a transplantation context, such as hypothermic oxygenated machine perfusion (HOPE), the technique aims to preserve or improve organ quality by perfusing with oxygen-rich, cooled solutions to limit injury and enhance recovery after transplantation.
