Overview

Oxysterol-binding protein-like 10 (OSBPL10) is a member of the OSBP protein family involved in intracellular lipid sensing and transport. The protein contains a pleckstrin homology domain at its N-terminus and a conserved C-terminal sterol-binding domain, which enables it to exchange phospholipids (mainly phosphatidylserine and PI4P) and bind cholesterol and oxysterols within cells. OSBPL10 acts predominantly as a lipid transporter at the interface of the endoplasmic reticulum and plasma membrane and negatively regulates lipid biosynthesis, notably impacting metabolic and hepatic pathways including APOB secretion. Overexpression of OSBPL10 is associated with pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma and may serve as a prognostic biomarker in cancer. No direct drug interventions currently target OSBPL10, but its molecular activity places it as a candidate target in metabolic and tumorigenic processes.
