Overview

p38α, also known as MAPK14, is a serine/threonine protein kinase and a member of the mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) family. It plays a central role in cellular responses to stress and inflammation, integrating multiple external cues to regulate diverse cellular functions. p38α is ubiquitously expressed in human tissues and is the most widely studied isoform among the four p38 MAPKs: p38α (MAPK14), p38β (MAPK11), p38γ (MAPK12), and p38δ (MAPK13).
