Target intelligence / Profile preview
p70 ribosomal protein S6 kinase (p70S6K or S6K1) is a serine/threonine kinase that plays a key role in translation regulation, cell growth, and metabolism. It is activated by the PI3K/mTOR pathway and phosphorylates the ribosomal protein S6, enhancing translation of mRNAs encoding ribosomal proteins and elongation factors. Dysregulation of p70S6K is implicated in various diseases including cancer, diabetes, and fibrotic conditions, making it a therapeutic target.
